Medicare Help in Kansas City, Missouri and Nearby Towns

We are a local, independent agency based in Kansas City. We help people on the Missouri side compare Medicare plans from many insurance companies, starting with the doctors and hospitals you already trust.

Help that knows the Missouri side of the metro

Kansas City, Missouri reaches into four counties: Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass. The plans you can pick from depend on the county you live in, so your ZIP code is one of the first things we ask.

We help people all over the area. That includes Independence, Lee's Summit, Blue Springs and Raytown in Jackson County, Liberty and Gladstone up north in Clay County, and Grandview, Belton and Raymore to the south. If you live in Platte County or somewhere else nearby, we can help you too.

Keep the hospital you already use

The biggest worry we hear is losing a doctor or hospital. People here want to keep using places like these:

  • Saint Luke's hospitals, including Saint Luke's East and Saint Luke's North
  • University Health, downtown and at Lakewood
  • Research Medical Center and Belton Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Midwest Health
  • North Kansas City Hospital (NKC Health)
  • Liberty Hospital
  • The University of Kansas Health System, just across the state line

Which plans each hospital takes can change from year to year. Two recent examples on the Missouri side: NKC Health says it went out of network with UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans on October 1, 2026 (NKC Health, as of August 2026). Saint Luke's says it will leave Aetna Medicare Advantage plans on January 1, 2027 (Saint Luke's, as of October 2026). These can change again, so we check for you every time.

Call us first so we can check your doctors. Before you pick or switch a plan, give us the names of your doctors and hospital. We check them against the plans we offer, so you know ahead of time which plans include your doctors. Call (816) 307-6165 or book a free review.

A Missouri rule worth knowing

Missouri has an anniversary rule for Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans. Each year around your policy's anniversary, there is a short window when you may be able to switch to the same type of plan with another company without answering health questions. There are limits, and Kansas works differently. See how the Missouri and Kansas rules compare.

We can point you to the right place and help you choose a plan that fits.

How we work

We are independent, so we are not tied to one insurance company. We compare the plans we offer from many companies, and the price is the same as going direct. Most people meet with us by phone or video. And we are here all year, not just at sign-up time. If a letter from your plan worries you, or a doctor says they no longer take your plan, call us.

Questions people ask us

Where is the Medicare office in Kansas City?

Medicare does not have local walk-in offices. Social Security handles signing up for Parts A and B. You can apply online at ssa.gov, call 1-800-772-1213, or find your nearest Social Security office with the office locator at ssa.gov. For help choosing a plan, call us or Missouri SHIP.

Do you meet in person or by phone?

Most reviews happen by phone or video, so you do not have to drive anywhere. We are a Kansas City agency, so we know the local doctors and hospitals your plan needs to include.

Does it cost more to use a local agent?

No. Our help is free. The price of a plan is the same whether you enroll with us, with the insurance company or on your own.

Can I keep seeing my Saint Luke's or University Health doctor?

It depends on the plan. Medicare Supplements work with any doctor who takes Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans use networks that can change each year. Give us your doctors' names and we will check the plans we offer.

Where can I get free, unbiased Medicare counseling in Missouri?

Missouri SHIP (it used to be called CLAIM) offers free counseling and does not sell insurance. You can call them at 800-390-3330.

I live in Missouri but my doctor is in Kansas. Is that a problem?

Not by itself. Many people here cross the state line for care. What matters is whether your doctor works with Medicare and with your plan. We check that for you.
